Fishing basics hand-book

Many Kiwis dust off their fishing gear during the Christmas period, attempting to provide for the family.

If failed attempts end at the local fish and chip shop, ‘How to Catch Fish and Where – The Complete Kiwi Beginners Guide’, by Mike Rendle, is the book for you.

The book is for anyone that wants to know the basics of fishing New Zealand’s coast.

It teaches anglers basic techniques, equipment to use, but will also inspire you to learn more and succeed at being an angler.

The book also covers any other aspect a beginner will need to know, including safety, rods and reels, lines, tackle, knots and rigs, bait, berley, wharf, beach and rock fishing basics, boat fishing basics, fishing rules and the environment, lures, soft baits, filleting, smoking fish and fish identification.

Mike is well known in the fishing world as a legend in his own right.

Spending his younger years at the family bach in Raglan brought on an addiction that turned into a career.

Page by page of ‘How to Catch Fish and Where’ is drenched with knowledge from more than four decades on and around the water, not only detailing the basics but also giving a fresh take for experienced anglers.

Mike Rendle says he’s nurtured many of the current crop of fishing talent and he loves nothing more than to help new fisherman succeed on their own.

“There is no sport like fishing for levelling people and creating lasting friendships.

"I have fished with very wealthy individuals, including the Prime Minister – and the fact is, they all hold the rod the same as you or me. There is no class or status in fishing.”

The Waterline website has a copy of, ‘How to Catch Fish and Where – The Complete Kiwi Beginners Guide’, by Mike Rendle to give away.
